THE FILM

The stories, which began this evening, start to interlock once they reach the Nightclub. The characters of the film are the ones the participants have gotten to know: Umar, Gerald, Cheryl and Lucien as well as the performers in the club. It is a film about how the night turns out – or could turn out. How do these characters on a collision course with their longings and the longings of others, negotiate what they want and what they can’t give to one another?
Events from this evening’s performance reappear in the movie itself – a certain song, the dropping and breaking of a glass, the entrance of the police or a secret that is told. What perhaps seemed like a random event or an accident proves to have been staged and has been incorporated into the story. It becomes apparent that the movie is about what the participant just lived and what are still partaking in. It becomes their movie. A ghostly flickering remnant of what they have experienced.

And is this narrative an accurate portrayal
of who they are or have become?
