the piece - our version
Time: The present
There is an explosion - an accident. A traveler, having fled from a war torn country in the east, is found unconscious on the site of the new Cartago Hydroelectric Dam. Wounded, he is forced to stay. As he heals and rebuilds his strength he finds himself progressively wrapped up in a web of passions and conflicts that swim just under the surface of this beautiful country. A love story begins to emerge. This is not, however, the world he is destined to make his home. Does he leave? Does he stay? Hearts begin to break - and are pieced back together in unimaginable waysÖ
We have taken the dramatic structure of Virgilís myth to explore the question, ìwhat is love?î - asking the question as it applies to our circumstances today. What do we do for love? What do we not do for love? What does love do to us? What are the forces of attraction and repulsion between lovers that propel us through the impossible decisions that we need to make? How do our dreams propel us towards and away from one another? What and where is home? The scenes range in tone from cinematic realism to circus-like exuberance. There is live music, strong acting, moments of dance, and a lot of fun.
